HighLevel for course creators: an honest review (UK, 2026)
HighLevel is usually sold to marketing agencies. But under the agency branding there is a complete toolkit a coach or trainer can use to run their own business: website and funnel builder, CRM, email and SMS, booking calendars, payments, courses, and communities. This review looks at it purely from the course creator’s side: what the course tools actually do, what it costs, and who should not use it.
Disclosure in plain English: the company behind CourseSignal builds HighLevel accounts for clients, and we earn a commission if you sign up through our link. That gives us hands-on familiarity, and it also gives us a reason to be biased. We have tried to counter that by sticking to HighLevel’s own documentation and pricing, and by spelling out where it is the wrong choice.
Short verdict
- Good fit: coaches, trainers and course creators who sell a course plus calls, cohorts, a community or a funnel, and who would otherwise pay for a separate CRM, email tool, scheduler and course platform.
- Poor fit: a first-time creator with one course and no plans for calls, SMS or funnels. A dedicated course platform will be faster to learn.
- Watch out for: USD pricing, usage charges for email/SMS/phone, and a learning curve. There are a lot of menus because the tool does a lot.
What the course tools actually do (from HighLevel’s docs)
| Feature | What HighLevel documents |
|---|---|
| Course builder | Modules and lessons with video, downloadable materials, quizzes and assignments, all inside Memberships → Courses. Docs |
| Offers / pricing | Package one or more courses into an offer: free, one-time or recurring. Publish it and share the checkout link. Docs |
| Drip content | Unlock lessons on a schedule after enrolment, including hourly drip (1–23 hours). Changelog |
| Quizzes | Single or multiple choice, optional pass mark, results analytics and export. Docs |
| Certificates | New courses come with a default completion certificate. You can also add category (section) certificates. Learners get them by email and can share them. Docs |
| Communities | Private or public groups with paid membership options. Courses can sit inside a community’s Learning tab as free, level-unlocked, time-unlocked, or paid (one-time or recurring). Docs · Paid courses |
| Learner access | Learners reach their courses through the Client Portal. Course progress can be opened from the contact record. Changelog |
| Migration | A Kajabi importer brings over published lessons (video, text, images). Quizzes and assignments have to be rebuilt. See our Kajabi migration guide. |
What sits around the course
This is the real reason to pick HighLevel over a pure course platform. HighLevel’s pricing page lists these as core features: website and funnel builder, CRM and pipelines, email and SMS marketing, workflow automation, booking calendars, forms/surveys/quizzes, payments and invoicing (Stripe, PayPal and others), a social media planner, reputation management, a mobile app, courses and communities. Contacts and users are unlimited on all plans.
In practice, that means one system can capture a lead, send the nurture emails, book the discovery call, take the payment, enrol the student, and chase people who haven’t finished. Whether you need that is the whole decision.
Pricing (official)
| HighLevel plan | Monthly (USD) | Annual (USD) | Key difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97 / mo | $970 / yr | 3 sub-accounts, unlimited contacts and users |
| Unlimited | $297 / mo | $2,970 / yr | Unlimited sub-accounts, basic API, rebill phone/email at cost |
| Pro | $497 / mo | $4,970 / yr | SaaS mode, rebill with markup, advanced API |
Source: gohighlevel.com/pricing, checked 6 October 2026 (BST). The pricing page lists a 14-day free trial on each plan. Usage-based charges apply to phone, SMS, email sending and some AI features, on top of the subscription — budget for them. Prices are in USD; your card provider’s exchange rate applies.
A solo coach usually starts on Starter. Unlimited and Pro are aimed at agencies managing many client accounts.

Pros
- Replaces several subscriptions: course hosting, email, booking, funnels and CRM in one bill.
- Courses + community + certificates are built in, not bolt-ons.
- Unlimited contacts, so your platform fee doesn’t jump as your list grows (sending costs still apply).
- Automation: workflows can react to purchases, lesson progress, form fills and bookings.
Cons
- Usage-based costs: SMS, email, phone and some AI features are billed on top of the plan.
- USD billing for UK buyers.
- Agency-first product: the interface and docs often assume you are an agency managing sub-accounts.
- You own deliverability: sending email from HighLevel means setting up your own domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). See our spam check guide.
- Migration is partial: quizzes and assignments don’t come across from other platforms automatically.
How it compares
- HighLevel vs Kajabi: the closest all-in-one rival.
- HighLevel vs Thinkific and HighLevel vs Teachable: course-first platforms.
- All-in-one platforms for UK coaches: a worksheet for adding up your current tool costs.
- How to set up a course in HighLevel: step by step.
Next step
Use the 14-day trial listed on HighLevel’s pricing page to build one real offer end to end: course, offer, checkout, welcome email. If it feels like too much tool, that is a useful answer too.
