Kajabi to HighLevel migration: importer + cutover checklist

#Ad — I earn a commission if you buy through my link. This page contains paid links to HighLevel. If you sign up through them, CourseSignal (run by Urban Huntsman Ltd) earns a commission at no extra cost to you. We are an independent HighLevel affiliate, and Urban Huntsman Ltd is also a HighLevel agency that builds HighLevel setups for clients. We are not HighLevel, we do not speak for HighLevel, and the opinions here are our own. Check current pricing and features on the official site before you buy.

Moving from Kajabi to HighLevel is mostly a planning job. HighLevel has a Kajabi course importer that handles the lesson content, but subscriptions, contacts, communities, quizzes and URLs all need a plan. Use this checklist before you cancel anything.

Overkill if you sell one course If you only need to host and sell one evergreen course — no CRM, booking calendar, SMS follow-up, community, or multi-step funnel — HighLevel is probably more platform than you need. A dedicated course platform (Thinkific, Teachable, Podia) is simpler to learn and can be cheaper. HighLevel earns its keep when it replaces several tools you would otherwise pay for separately.

What the importer brings across (per HighLevel’s docs)

ContentImported automatically?
Published lessons: video, text, imagesYes
Unpublished / draft lessonsNo. Publish them in Kajabi first if you want them
Quizzes and assignmentsNo. Rebuild in HighLevel
Contacts, subscriptions, communities, pages, emailsNot covered by the course importer. Plan separately

Step-by-step import

  1. In HighLevel, go to the Memberships / Courses area and choose to create a product by Import → Kajabi.
  2. Authenticate your Kajabi account when prompted.
  3. Select the courses to import. Only published lessons come across.
  4. Start the import and wait. Large courses can take a while.
  5. Open each imported course and check lesson order, video playback and downloads.

Cutover checklist

  1. Inventory everything in Kajabi: products, offers, active subscriptions, payment plans, community members, email sequences, pages and URLs.
  2. Export contacts from Kajabi and import them into HighLevel with tags for each product owned.
  3. Plan recurring payments carefully. Active subscriptions don’t move automatically. Decide whether to keep them running until renewal, re-subscribe members, or migrate via your payment processor with professional help.
  4. Rebuild quizzes, assignments and certificates in HighLevel.
  5. Rebuild offers (Memberships → Courses → Offers) and grant existing students access to the right offer.
  6. Recreate your community and invite members. Tell them what’s changing and when.
  7. Email setup: authenticate your sending domain (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) before your first broadcast. See the deliverability checklist.
  8. Redirect old URLs: map Kajabi sales-page URLs to the new pages to keep SEO and bookmarks working.
  9. Test as a student: login email, access, drip, certificate.
  10. Only then downgrade or cancel Kajabi. Keep exports and receipts.

Is it worth migrating?

Migrate if HighLevel replaces tools you pay for on top of Kajabi (CRM, SMS, scheduler, extra contact blocks), or if you’re hitting Kajabi’s contact limits. If Kajabi already covers everything and you’re happy, a migration is a lot of work for little gain. See HighLevel vs Kajabi.

Test before you commit

Run the Kajabi import during HighLevel’s listed 14-day trial and check one full course before you move anyone.
